Gen Z are creating a new “viscal language” to communicate on TikTok.

Nov 18 2020

Gen Z are creating a new “viscal language” to communicate on TikTok. Every generation has a special way of communicating on social media, and in two short years TikTok has “spawned” a “vast network” of poses and gestures that have their own meanings and uses among Gen Z. There’s the “TikTok face,” dramatically slapping your hands to your face with added sound effects to convey feeling surprised, as well as “nose scrunchies” or “fish lips” to look cute and be ironic. Influencers like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae have helped make these expressions popular trends. (Vox)
