Snapchat users can now add music to their posts—just like a TikTok. With the new “Sounds” feature, Snapchatters can add song clips to their Snaps and Stories. When looking at a Snap with music, users will be able to swipe up to see the track name, artist, and album art, which could make sounds a viable music marketing vehicle. In fact, Gen Z-favorite Justin Bieber is exclusively previewing his new song “Lonely” on the feature, ahead of the full song’s official debut. With the addition of the feature, the app is “setting itself up to compete even more so with TikTok and Instagram.” (Variety, The Verge)
