Thanks to the Dune trailer, young music fans are getting into Pink Floyd. We told you the movie’s trailer was trending, and it’s making a classic track popular again. According to Alpha Data, following the trailer’s debut, audio streams of “Eclipse” by Pink Floyd (which plays throughout) increased by 50%, while digital sales of the song soared 1,750%. Spotify reported an 86% increase of users listening to the song for the first time since the trailer’s premiere, and attributed a “bulk of those discoveries” to Millennials. Social media has a knack for making older songs relevant again, and previously, YPulse’s real-time data tool PULSE found that young consumers are actually more likely to be listening to “older songs” right now than “newer songs.” (Rolling Stone)
