Home improvement is surging during the pandemic.

Home improvement is surging during the pandemic. YPulse’s No Place Like Home trend report found that 64% of 13-39-year-olds have become interested in improving and fixing up their homes because of COVID. And with the lockdowns forcing people to stay at home more, DIY projects to convert inside spaces into home offices or backyards into playgrounds for kids have been popular. According to a survey from Porch.com, three out of four homeowners have completed a major project since the start of the pandemic, and searches on Google for home improvement work are up 50% from last year. Improving yards is especially trending: Deck construction is up 275%, hiring landscapers is up 238%, and fence construction installation is up 144%. (NPR)
