Instagram is testing new layouts to put a spotlight on Reels and Shopping. The social network is testing three different layouts on the app’s navigation bar dedicated to their “Shopping” and “Reels” features. By adding the “Shopping” tab on the home page, the app will be able to attract more retail business and help monetize influencers on the platform who are selling merch, art, and other products—as young consumers are becoming increasingly interested in social shopping. Meanwhile, as competition with TikTok ramps up, emphasizing “Reels” with a tab could help boost its popularity at a key time. (Business Insider, The Verge)
