YouTube created a $100 million fund for Black creators and artists. In a move to support and amplify Black voices, the platform will kick off the initiative with “Bear Witness, Take Action”—a livestreamed fundraising event featuring creators, artists, public figures, and activists in roundtable discussions and musical performances. Donations from the event will go toward the Equal Justice Initiative. As part of the fund, YouTube’s Spotlight channel will feature content on racial justice issues, including perspectives from the Black community, historical content, educational videos, and coverage of the protests. They aren’t the only media brand to make a pledge: Netflix is committing $5 million “to organizations dedicated to creating opportunities for Black creators, Black youth and Black-owned businesses.” (Adweek, Variety)
