YouTube is developing a TikTok rival during a time when they’re thriving. YPulse data shows that the platform is the top media source among Gen Z and Millennials, with use skyrocketing during quarantine. Now, they’re reportedly developing YouTube Shorts, a new feature that allows creators to upload their own short videos to their app. During the pandemic, YouTubers have been flocking to the platform to create quarantine vlogs and “with me” videos as viewers turn to their content for entertainment. Of course, Gen Z has also been using TikTok more as a result of being quarantined—and clearly YouTube wants more of their attention. (CNET, NBC News)
