The esports industry is booming—but still needs more women. YPulse’s State of Gaming research found that 34% of 13-to-36-year-old females define themselves as gamers, compared to 71% of males. The gaming industry may be male-dominated, but according to a report from data firm Interpret, women compromise 30% of esports viewership, while 35% are esports gamers—and these numbers continue to grow every year. Now, esports organizations are coming together to recognize young, prospective female gamers and create more inclusive environments to encourage women to get into gaming. (NBC News)
