Quibi tried to explain exactly what it is they do in their Oscars’ ads. During the Academy Awards, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s soon-to-launch mobile-only streaming service launched five separate 30-second spots. The commercials incorporated “ticking clock scenarios” often seen in Hollywood movies in an attempt to highlight the platform’s unique focus on video content that’s 10 minutes or less. In an already crowded streaming world, Quibi is one of the latest streaming services targeting young consumers through incorporating remakes of popular shows, and partnering with celebrities and esports organizations.
