BuzzFeed News is recruiting teens to cover the election on TikTok and Instagram. As part of their 2020 election coverage the site is hiring three “teen ambassadors” from swing states or politically underrepresented states to create original weekly content for the brand’s TikTok and Instagram channels. Each ambassador will be chosen to create videos based on their passion for political and storytelling abilities, and guided by editors to build a following. According to BuzzFeed News, the effort is partly an experiment with “the way news is going to look in the future.” YPulse’s research shows that 74% of 13-to-17-year-olds get their news on Instagram.
