YouTube is doubling down on original programming in 2020 with a focus on documentaries. YPulse’s Growing Up YouTube research found that 54% of 13-37-year-olds watch YouTube daily, and the platform is investing in more exclusive content to keep them tuned in. In 2019, 50 original series and films debuted, and 100 new projects are being developed for this year. While many scripted series will be returning for another season, a lot of the new programming is expected to be nonfiction—including a docuseries about Justin Bieber. The platform will also continue livestreaming after seeing success from five specials last year. (Adweek)
