Kids’ content on YouTube changed forever on January 1st. Gen Z has grown up on YouTube, binge watching a slew of unregulated, often wild and weird videos for kids—and having their data collected to “serve them personalized ads.” But starting January 1, 2020, thanks to an FTC settlement, YouTube will no longer allow content for kids to include targeted ads. Creators are expecting a steep drop in revenue, and if they fail to label their channels correctly, will face fines themselves. (Vox)
