HBO is joining the streaming wars—with some of Gen Z and Millennials’ favorite content. WarnerMedia’s soon-to-launch HBO Max will launch in spring 2020 with about 10,000 hours of content, including Studio Ghibli films, the entire run of Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Pretty Little Liars, and existing HBO series—plus original programming. The service will cost about $17 a month for subscribers who don’t already have DirecTV, AT&T wireless, or HBO. HBO Max will join an increasingly crowded market of streamers competing for cord-cutting young viewers—and threatening Netflix’s dominance. (Digital Trends)
