GameStop may be powering down 200 stores this year.The go-to retailer for all-things-gaming is struggling to survive young consumers’ shift to online shopping, especially as tech giants launch their respective video game subscription services—the most recent one being Apple Arcade. GameStop’s CFO confirmed they’ve already shuttered 195 locations since last year and are “on track to close between 180 and 200 underperforming stores globally by the end of this fiscal year.” They also sized down operations with a recent spate of corporate layoffs.
