Netflix is axing original shows that can’t bring in Stranger Things-sized audiences. As more major players enter the streaming wars, Netflix is being much more selective about its original slate in an effort to retain Gen Z & Millennial subscribers. They recently canceled Tuca & Bertie and The OA, even though popular opinion points to the algorithm, not to the shows’ quality, for their early ends. Unfortunately, the streamer can no longer take the big-budget risks they used to, another sign of the end times for the modern era of prestige TV. (The Verge)
