Politicians are taking actions against YouTube that could change kids’ content forever. YouTube has long argued that it’s not a kids’ platform. But now, senators are pointing to the fact that the platform’s most popular channel is Ryan ToysReview—and in addition to that for-kids channel, there are “millions of subscriptions and views [that] are clearly directed toward children.” To remedy this, they’re asking that YouTube delete all data on under-13 users, prohibit targeted and influencer marketing on YouTube Kids, and make other meaningful changes.
