The first viral video stars couldn’t imagine the vitriol going viral inspires today. “David After Dentist,” a video of a 7-year-old post-anesthesia, racked up millions of views in 2009, and though some media outlets and commenters accused David’s dad of child abuse, the internet’s reception was mostly positive. But the web of today has taken a dramatic turn towards the negative. Viral fame fuels cyberbullying and pedophilia sites, not to mention the everyday trolls with a takedown ready for any innocent post. (Vox)
