Kids eat more calories when they see influencers doing it. Researchers at The University of Liverpool presented 9-11-year-olds with an array of snacks after showing them YouTuber Instagram accounts they created. Those who saw a version of the profile featuring unhealthy food ate 32% more calories from bad-for-you snacks and 26% more calories overall than kids who saw a similar account without any food products. Unfortunately, the Influencer Effect doesn’t go both ways: Kids who saw influencers making healthy choices weren’t any more likely to choose healthy snacks. (CBS News)
