Blaming “screen time” for rising anxiety and depression among teens isn’t telling the whole story. Self-reporting can be inaccurate, and “screen time” itself is an ambiguous, catch-all term. A Laureate Institute for Brain Research scientist explains, “Screen time isn’t a thing; it’s 100 things,” and those 100 things all have different impacts on mental health. And as more things get screens, like smart fridges, the measurement of “screen time” will become even less meaningful. (Vox)
