K-pop, ASMR, and advocacy movements filled Instagram feeds in 2018. According to the platform’s annual report, K-pop group BTS had the most engaged fandom (aptly named their “Army”) and ASMR made the biggest mark as a niche community with viral trends like soap cutting and slime making a lot of noise for a mostly silent trend.
