Applebee’s alcoholic appeal to Millennials is working. The chain restaurant’s same-store sales rose 7.7% in the third quarter, reports Applebee’s president, compared to an industry average that Black Box Intelligence pegs at 1.2%. They’re attributing the best sales they’ve had in at least 14 years to improvements in their curbside pickup and the rollout of viral dollar drinks, with the president explaining that “because [customers] are getting a great value on the beverage side, they tend to be ordering desserts and appetizers.” (CNBC)
