YouTube is giving more control to parents and creating a tween version of the Kids app. Parents will now be able to handpick every channel or video that their kids are allowed to see on the platform, rather than leaving it up to moderators, with an “Approved Content Only” mode that prevents kids from searching for anything else. YouTube is also introducing a slightly more-grown-up experience of the Kids app for tweens, which includes “less restricted” videos but is still filtered. These changes are part of YouTube’s ongoing attempt at redemption after being put in the hot seat this year for letting inappropriate videos slip through the cracks. (TechCrunch, Variety)
