Pint-sized shoppers are increasingly asking mom and dad to help them click “buy” instead of taking a trip to the mall. According to one nine-year-old, “’I still have to beg my mom and dad for stuff, but now it’s at home instead of at the store…It’s kind of easier this way.’” Children as young as 13 can set up their own Amazon accounts, and tween brands like Justice have created branded apps where young users can play games, and create product wishlists they can email their parents. Meanwhile, popular YouTube stars are promoting both brands and their own merchandise in videos that direct viewers to websites to shop. (Washington Post)
