Facebook and Instagram are cracking down on underage users. After being called out in a Channel 4 documentary for not doing enough to prevent users under the age of 13 from signing up (it is, after all, against their Terms of Use), Facebook has decided to actively lock suspiciously young users’ accounts. It’s a step up from their previous stance, which was to only delete reported accounts. Now, locked accounts will only be unlocked after Facebook receives a government-issued ID proving their age.
