Instagram is taking on YouTube with a new standalone app for vertical video. A tab within the Instagram app will also take users to the IGTV platform, leveraging the popular platform’s user base—which they just announced hit one billion. As of now, the video length is limited to ten minutes for most users, but extending that to unlimited is in the works. The feature could become an important new avenue for advertising, and sets Instagram up as a YouTube competitor. (The Verge)
