Why wait to retire? Some are taking “mini retirements” throughout their careers instead. Everyone from fresh college grads to Millennial parents are taking mid-life breaks lasting from months to years. A 24-year-old explains that her 12-18-month hiatus through New Zealand and Asia as being “about slowing down, experiencing the world, getting to know myself and finding what I love while I'm still young.” One parent had slightly different motivations: “Since I'm not retiring early any time soon, a mini-retirement seemed like a great way to spend quality time and have a great new experience as a family.” (Business Insider)
