Cartoon Network’s new show is “racially groundbreaking.” Craig Of The Creek is appealing to The Diversity Tipping Point generation by featuring a diverse cast and a black lead character. They’re not the first cartoon to do so (The Proud Family, Static Shock etc.), but racial minorities are more often relegated to being sidekicks in most animated shows (Rugrats, Hey Arnold, etc.). The creators of the show hope that “little moments” like family dinners will be relatable to minority viewers but will also “connect to something that every kid experiences.” (Fast Company)
