The New York Times’ digital subscription revenue is keeping up with Facebook and actually outpacing Google. Since putting up their paywall in 2011, the publication has accrued 2.2 million subscribers. In 2017, they earned $340 million off of their paying readers, a 46% jump over 2016. Though the revenue of the NYTimes isn’t comparable to that of tech giants, the rate they’re growing at is: Facebook’s revenue grew 47% year over year while Google grew 23%. Despite their digital success, they’re hanging onto their print edition. (Recode)
