College admissions officials are delivering acceptance letters in person, sometimes accompanied by the mascot and even a marching band. Butler University and University of Maryland are just a couple of colleges that have surprised students with extravagant acceptances—and posted it all to social media, of course. Colleges are competing for a declining number of students, so they’re doing everything they can to stand out and sway students to don their logo. The strategy isn’t just meant to convince the students getting the special treatment, but to encourage prospective students to apply as well. (WSJ)
