Teens are still eating Tide pods—in fact, they’re eating more than ever. From January 16th to 22nd, the number of reported incidents more than doubled from 39 to 86. In the entirety of 2016 there were only 39 cases, and in all of 2017 there were just 53. YouTube said they would take down all Tide pod-eating videos, while Amazon committed to removing reviews of the product that talked about consuming them. Meanwhile, the American Association of Poison Control Centers continues to release warnings and Tide’s parent company P&G has rolled out an informative campaign to make sure everyone knows that Tide pods are literally poison.
