CNN bet big on Beme, Casey Neistat’s video company and fledgling short-form news show—but now they’re calling it quits. Beme was meant to lure Gen Z & Millennials to CNN by leveraging The Influencer Effect. Instead, the company never hit its stride among “creative conflicts and sluggish progress.” Neistat summed it up: “I don’t think I’m giving CNN what I want to give them, and I don’t think they’re getting value from me.” But CNN insists they have no regrets: “This was a chance worth taking—we built products and developed key talent that has made CNN stronger.” (BuzzFeed)
