Netflix’s first big movie racked up 11 million views in its first weekend, according to Nielsen—and that measurement only takes into account TVs, not computers or phones. Bright had a non-traditional marketing scheme which targeted unique ads via “intelligent, algorithm-based systems,” and it looks like their hyper-customized approach paid off. If the movie’s viewers had seen it at a theatre release, the Will Smith flick would have made roughly $90 million—putting it on par with Wonder Woman and Justice League. However, some argue that viewing something on Netflix isn’t equal to getting up and going to the movies IRL. (tubefilter)
