“Prescription video game[s]” could be the next-gen treatment for ADHD. Akili Interactive Labs developed a game to help kids with the disorder, and their latest study suggests it works: kids who played the game “saw statistically significant improvements on metrics of attention and inhibitory control,” compared to those who played a placebo. The video game rewards players as they navigate lava rivers and ice, all while algorithms target “the key neurological pathways that control attention and impulsivity.” Akili Interactive Labs plans to file for approval from the FDA next year.
