Mattel’s Hello Barbie Hologram, a voice assistant for kids (and yes, a hologram), has been delayed until 2018. The innovative smart speaker projects a small Barbie figure within a pink box as she “talks, walks & dances” to interact with tech-savvy tykes. Production has been pushed back “due to additional testing of the platform”—which may have to do with privacy issues. The company recently cancelled another child’s voice assistant, Aristotle, over privacy concerns, which have continued to crop up in the toy market this year. (ABC)
