YouTube is ready to take on Netflix and Hulu, joining in on streaming shakeups with new premium content for their paid streaming service Red. The site is pushing for major creative players to join their lineup, hoping to get a piece of Post-TV Gen’s attention. As the space gets increasingly crowded, all services that want to make a splash are putting down major dollars to do so. To set themselves apart, YouTube is “focusing on the 18-to-34 demographic with youthful but edgy fare,” and leveraging their ad-supported site alongside the subscription-based YouTube Red and live TV streaming channel, YouTube TV.
