Under Armour may be among the most “uncool” athletic brands—at least when it comes to footwear. Wells Fargo surveyed young men, and only 27% ranked the brand’s footwear favorably compared to 70% for Adidas and 81% for Nike. And there’s more bad news: Under Armour shoes also ranked last in the list of brands respondents were interested in purchasing. A study by Versus Reviews shows that only 3.5% of NBA players wear Under Armour sneakers (compared to a whopping 64% for Nike), which hurts their ability to leverage The Influencer Effect.
