British Millennials are killing tea! Though 48% of Brits still drink tea once or more each day, a Mintel analyst said sales dropped “about 20% since 2012” and 5% in 2016 alone. For a $1 billion industry, those percentage points pack a punch. Young consumers are being blamed for tea sales’ “long-term decline,” choosing coffee over traditional black tea, as well as soft drinks and herbal teas—especially with trendy ingredients like turmeric and matcha.
