Esports might be at the next Olympics. The International Olympic Committee is seriously considering adding esports to the 2024 Paris Olympics based on its boom in popularity. After a 30% drop in ratings among 18-34-year-olds for the Rio Games compared to the previous Olympics, organizers are getting creative to draw young viewers in. Esports are winning with Millennials, with 24% of 13-34-year-olds telling Ypulse that they are avid followers—so inviting pro gamers to compete might help win back young viewers. (NBC, Quartz)
