Lonely Planet is launching a new Instagram-esque app to induce wanderlust. “Trips” curates a visual feed of far-off places posted by users with captions to share their experiences. Posts are heart-able and sharable, you can follow your favorite profiles, and there’s also a “discover” section to search by categories like “Adventure.” Lonely Planet’s hopes to reach its avid fan base, who downloaded their “Guides” app more than one million times. And, though Trips is similar to Instagram, Lonely Planet says their aim is “not to compete with the social media giant, but to complement it.” (TechCrunch)
