Speaking of Netflix “eating television,” the more viewers they take from cable, the more Facebook and Google profit. As consumers stray from the TV set, more and more advertising dollars go towards mobile, and in the mobile social world, Facebook and Google are kings. While other platforms’ ad revenue grew less than 10% from 2015-16, Google’s grew 20% and Facebook’s grew 62%. Not only have they crowded out other players, ad spend hasn’t caught up to time spent on mobile yet—and “they’re waiting with open arms.” (The Atlantic)
