YouTube says they’re “not TV and never will be,” but they just announced new “ad-supported originals” that sound remarkably like traditional television.

YouTube says they’re “not TV and never will be,” but they just announced new “ad-supported originals” that sound remarkably like traditional television. The shows will include comedies and live events featuring the likes of Ryan Seacrest, Katy Perry, and Demi Lovato. According to Ypulse’s most recent media consumption tracker, 72% of Millennials and Gen Z watch YouTube videos weekly or more often, and YouTube reports the platform has more 18-49-year-old viewers on mobile alone than any primetime TV show can claim. But they also say their fastest growing viewership is actually on traditional TV screens, and they’re pushing into the living rooms of the Post TV Gen fast. (MediaPost)
