In the age of Netflix, movie theaters are standing strong. Recently, the article Go fullscreen: can Hollywood fight back against Netflix? implied that streaming services are threatening the livelihood of cinemas, as they start to release films that coincide with theater premieres. But “the facts tell a very different story.” In 2016, both the U.S. and the U.K. box offices reached record levels, and with the record-breaking success of the latest slate of films, interest in going to the movies is on track to only get higher.
