Suburban office parks may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to Millennials. In a 2015 Bach firm report, it was revealed that 14-22% of U.S. office parks were facing the risk of becoming obsolete and the two main factors driving the risk were “proximity to mass transit and access to amenities like lunch and shopping”—factors that are valuable to young employees. In Chicago alone, McDonald's, Kraft Heinz, and ConAgra Foods have all taken their homebases from the suburbs to office spaces downtown, and many others are rebuilding to their headquarters for a more urban feel.
