A new app developed by an Eastern Kentucky University professor is teaching young people compassion. Random APP of Kindness provides nine mini-games “aim[ed] to strengthen empathy in users,” and research shows that 10-17-year-olds who played the game for two months were more empathetic than those who played a “traditional” app game. The app’s developers say that empathy in teens has been on the decline since 1979, which they attribute to increasing connection with phones. (WKYT)
