The top Valentine’s Day gifts that young consumers planned to give to their loved ones today were pretty traditional, and it looks like they have some other traditional takes on the holiday. Diamond retailer James Allen reports that 41% of married 25-34-year-olds would have liked it if their partners had proposed on Valentine’s, more than older respondents. This could be because engagements have become more of a production for the generation: they were also more likely to say their own had involved flowers (34%), that they had family (26%) or friends (19%) present, or that they or their partner proposed in public.
