Armed with a Millennial advantage, Target is releasing a new payment app. The retailer is the third big-box store to launch a mobile payment system, but unlike the first two—Kohl’s and Walmart—they have a few things that may lead to “rapid adoption rates:” their Cartwheel App that has 30 million users, and a young shopper consumer base. eMarketer estimates that more than a third of Millennial smartphone users will be using mobile payments this year, and the young consumers will account for more than half of total mobile payment users in the U.S. (eMarketer)
