Looks like there’s going to be another competitor in the video subscription space. In a similar move to YouTube’s launch of YouTube Red, Vimeo has announced their own upcoming consumer-facing subscription service—but unlike YouTube they aren’t “start[ing] from scratch.” Vimeo sees 240 million viewers monthly and millions of users have already paid up for their pay-for-content system, fueled by a community of “emerging filmmakers, editors, and directors.” (TechCrunch)
