Is the popularity of esports is driving the decline of traditional sports’ viewership? According to gaming data company, Newzoo, 76% of esport enthusiasts say that their participation in the rising sport is replacing the time they use to spend watching traditional sports. They report that 22% of 21-35-year-old males are watching eports at least once a month, which means that “esports has overtaken ice hockey and is just behind baseball in terms of viewership” among Millennial males. The report values the industry at $493 million and tallied a worldwide audience of 148 million. (The Daily Dot)
