Instagram isn’t keeping up with Snapchat’s teen takeover. A new report from Piper Jaffray has revealed that 35% of teens name Snapchat as their favorite app, followed by Instagram at 24%, and then a tie between Facebook and Twitter, both at 13%. Eight in ten teens are using Snapchat monthly—up 6% from fall 2015, and while Instagram is fairly close in monthly usage their increase in teen users was half of Snapchat’s. Older platforms Facebook and Twitter saw drop-offs in monthly usage from 2015, and are especially struggling with younger teens: a little less than half of 14-year-olds are using Twitter monthly, and only 30% are using Facebook monthly.
