U.S. kids are falling behind when it comes to fitness. A global analysis of 9-17-year-olds’ fitness levels in the British Journal of Sports Medicine revealed that the fittest children are from Africa and Central-Northern Europe, while American kids ended up at the “back of the pack,” ranking 47th out of 50. Exploration of the data revealed that countries with “a big gap between rich and poor” tended to have the lowest levels of fitness, which may have to do with the link between poverty and “bad social and health outcomes.” (CNN)
